EXPLORE: Whistler

Happy December! Jack Frost is nipping away across Canada, and we couldn't be happier because colder weather means winter sports! Whistler got a lot of buzz for the last Olympics, and it's still a top spot in Canada for a winter wonderland getaway. Aside from hitting the world-class slopes and eating piping-hot BeaverTails pastries there are some other great activities that you won't want to miss.

Take an incredible 4.4-kilometer gondola ride that zips you from Whistler mountain across to Blackcomb. One for the record books, it boasts the longest unsupported span (3.024 kms), the highest lifts of its kind (436 metres) and is the longest continuous lift system in the world.

Surrounded by a spruce and cedar forest this outdoor spa is the epitome of relaxation. Relax in hot pools, eucalyptus steam rooms and Finnish saunas, then refresh yourself in crisp waterfalls, showers and baths. All the while breathing in the fresh country air. Top it off with a massage and you're likely to float all the way home.

Exercise your mind and learn about the two different BC First Nations cultures whose traditional land overlaps in Whistler. See incredible handiwork including woven goods and totem poles, and pick up some Native art in the gift shop.
