EXPLORE: Top 5 Victoria Day Weekend Getaways

One of the best things about living in Canada is enjoying a long, relaxing weekend in honour of Victoria Day every year. There are so many wonderful ways to spend it - cooking elaborate dinners for your family and friends, gardening, catching up on your reading list - but our favourite option would have to be packing up the car and high-tailing it out of town for a real getaway! With Victoria Day weekend just days away, we're shortlisting our dreamiest destinations across Canada. The only tough decision will be which one to pick!

Bonne Bay, Newfoundland

This little fishing town in Western Newfoundland is sure to charm your socks off. Go on a fishing tour, take in a show at the local theatre and, most importantly, revel in the simplicity of small town life.

Okanagan Valley, British Columbia

One of British Columbia's five fabulous wine regions, BC's Okanagan Valley is the place to be for a leave-your-cares-behind wine tasting weekend. Take a tour of wine country at Mission Hill Winery, complete with an al fresco lunch!

Killarney Lodge, Ontario

Craving some rustic, cabin-style relaxation? Head to historic Killarney Lodge in Ontario's Algonquin Park, open since 1935. Only three and a half hours outside of Toronto, it's the perfect place to put the big city behind you for a little while.

Eastern Townships, Quebec

Few places in the Great North are as idyllic as Quebec's Eastern Townships. Check yourself into a B&B and explore one of the many charming little towns in this country region. Take a trip down the Townships Trail to view stunning heritage sites and historic buildings.

Banff, Alberta

Just an hour and a half outside of Calgary, there's nothing like escaping into the mountains to take all your cares away. It's impossible not to de-stress while peering out at lovely Lake Louise or marvelling at Canada's incredible Rocky Mountains, BeaverTail in hand. Don't have the budget for the Fairmount? Don't fret. This destination is 100% camping-friendly.

INSPIRE: Our 5 Most Favourite Movie Moms

Mother's Day is just around the corner, and that means it's time to amp up our appreciation factor! Whether they're preparing our lunches for us, bandaging up a scraped knee, reading us bedtime stories or helping us out with some tough homework (though hopefully, not anymore), moms are simply the best. This week, we're showing some motherly love by rounding up our favourite moms on the big screen. Because if there's anything better than our own moms, it's a movie mom!

Juggling six kids, we think it's pretty amazing that Carol Brady was able to stay peppy, not to mention fabulous! The Brady Bunch wouldn't have been complete without her.

Mrs. Miller was, in our books, the coolest movie mom ever. She may have been a bit on the overbearing side, but we love the Almost Famous mom anyway.

As far as true devotion goes, Mrs. Gump takes the cake (or the 'Tail!). How many other mom's have an expression coined for them?

Does it get any fiercer than Leigh Ann Tuhoy in The Blindside? Plus, this movie mom is also a real-life powerhouse mom!

We may think our moms are all superheroes, but this mother of three actually was, super powers and all! Helen Parr dealt with any situation head-on, including her accident-prone husband.

INSPIRE: Recipes For Every Day of the Week

At the end of a long day, it can be tempting to whip out the take out menus instead of whipping up something in the kitchen. The thing we find most helpful? Having ultra-yummy recipes planned out ahead of time, especially when they're tailored to fit each day. Tasty Tuesday: Nicaraguan Arroz con Pollo

We-Can-Get-Over-The-Hump Wednesday: Beer-Braised Chicken

Thrifty Thursday: Bean and Butternut Squash Chili

Fabulous Friday: Duck Magret with Fig and Port Sauce
